What is NILS?
The NO INTEREST LOAN SCHEME (NILS) provides individuals and families on a low income access to safe, fair and affordable credit.

We can loan up to $1500 for essential goods and services, subject to your capacity to meet repayments without creating financial stress.

Once your application is approved, repayments are set up at an affordable amount over a 6 to 12 month period.

WHAT ARE THE LOANS FOR?
Loans are generally available for the purchase of essential goods and services.
Items Seeds of Hope No Interest Loan Scheme may lend for include, though are not exclusive to:
Whitegoods e.g., (Fridge, washing machine, freezer, microwave).
Essentials electrical goods (including computers and televisions).
Household furniture (e.g. Lounge suites and dining suites).
Beds and mattresses.
Some medical and dental expenses.
Education expenses.

Loans are not approved for:
Cash advances.
Living expenses such as food.
Electricity, gas or telephone bills.
Debt repayments and consolidation.
Bond and rent money. Rent arrears.
Cheques payable to the loan recipient.
Cheques to a third party for a private sale.

DO I QUALIFY FOR NILS?
To qualify you must:
Have a Health Care or Pension Card.
Earn less than $45,000 (Singles) or $60,000 (Couples or Families).
Reside at your current address for at least 3 months.
Show a willingness and capacity to repay.

HOW NILS WORKS IN YOUR COMMUNITY
With manageable repayments and a respectful assessment process NILS works through a process of “circular community credit”.
When a borrower makes a repayment to NILS, funds are then available to someone else in the community.
This is a real demonstration of the community in action.
